At the University of Illinois, and at campuses across the country, protesters called for an end to investments in companies with ties to South Africa. The Divest Now Coalition and the Champaign-Urbana Coalition Against Apartheid organized protests and boycotts in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, eventually forcing the University to divest funds. Join a panel of former students and administrators involved in the movement for a discussion of the protests and student activism.

Panel Members:
Lisa Dixon and Jeff Machota, student leaders of the divestment movement;
Rhonda Kirts, student body president during the divestment movement;
Lex Tate, former reporter for The News-Gazette and Associate Director of University Office of Public Affairs;
Bryan Savage, legal counsel for the divestment movement

Moderator: Jack Brighton, Director of New Media and Innovation, Illinois Public Media.

This event will be at the University of Illinois UMCA, located at 1001 South Wright Street, Champaign, IL 61820.

    This is one of the best books in the entire 747 collection. If you like interior design, decorating, collecting vintage items and/or displaying art in your home you will find inspiration and achievable ideas here. There are lots of great photographs. My favorite home was John Derian's.

    The photographs are wonderful; they are the books strength. The writing is typical art-speak...boring, pedantic and deadly dull. The biographical information was interesting. I didn't know that Brassai and Henry Miller were such close friends. In hindsight, their affinity seems to be destined. Brassai's transmutations are among my favorite works of art...and, as far as his photographs go...what's there NOT to like about gorgeous black&white photos of the seamy underbelly of Paris at night in the 1930s?!
